Ms. Smedley has years of experience in the federal sector. Since 2003, she has worked as an independent consultant, specializing in facilitation, team building, training design and delivery, and alternative dispute resolution (mediation). Her clients include the Department of the Interior, Department of Transportation, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Prior to 2003 Pat managed the Employee and Organization Development Program for the National Park Service, Intermountain Region, serving a seven-state area with over 3000 employees. During her tenure in this position Pat developed and implemented a variety of new initiatives, including a 2 year change effort that targeted leadership development for the region’s supervisors and managers.
She also designed, implemented and served as lead mediator of the Region’s Conflict Resolution Program (CORE Plus), a program developed to resolve workplace disputes through early intervention and mediation.
Pat’s early career included employment with a number of federal agencies in the United States and abroad. She managed programs in virtually all areas of human resource management, including employee relations, performance management and recruitment and staffing. She also served as the Presidential Management Intern Coordinator for the Department of the Navy and the Total Quality Management Program Manager at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 8.
Ms. Smedley has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina and is a graduate of the University Associates Organization and Human Resource Development Intern Program. She received her certification as a mediator from CDR and Associates in Boulder, Colorado. Pat is also certified in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and the Center for Creative Leadership’s Benchmarks 360 degree Leadership Assessment Instrument.
